0. nap Máltán - DLinda

 Nem tudok elég hálás lenni a Ryanair-nek, hogy egy teljes vasárnapot tölthetek Máltán, mielőtt a kurzusom elkezdődik. Mit is csináljak, mit is csináljak? Nagy kérdés... Hát IRÁNY A STRAND!

I can't thank Ryanair enough for allowing me to spend a whole Sunday in Malta before my course starts. What should I do, what should I do? Big question... DIRECTION TO THE BEACH!

Megnéztem a keresőben és az útikönyvekben, a legjobb homokos partokat, majd a legmesszebbire esett a választásom. Amikor ideértem szombaton, váltottam egy egy hétre szóló "bármire felszállhatsz és bárhova elutazhatsz" jegyet (már a reptérről is ezzel jöttem Vallettára). Letöltöttem egy máltai tömegközlekedéses applikációt (Tallinja) és rákerestem hogy hogyan juthatnék el Paradise Bay-re. Mivel a vallettai buszállomásról gyakorlatilag mindenhova el lehet jutni, így könnyű dolgom volt. Egyetlen buszra kellett felszállnom, ami ugyan másfél óráig ment, de pont a tengerpart mellett tett le. A buszok légkondicionáltak és angolul végig ki van írva, hogy mi a következő megálló. Sima ügy!

I looked at the best sandy beaches in the search engine and in the guidebooks, and then I chose the furthest one. When I got here on Saturday, I bought a one-week "you can get on anything and go anywhere" ticket (I already came to Valletta with this from the airport). I downloaded a Maltese public transport application (Tallinnja) and searched for directions to Paradise Bay. Since you can get practically everywhere from the bus station in Valletta, it was easy for me. I had to get on a single bus, which took an hour and a half, but dropped me right next to the beach. The buses are air-conditioned and the next stop is written in English throughout. Simple matter!

A buszmegállótól sétálni kell kb. 12 percet és ott is vagy. Gyönyörű kék tenger, tiszta égbolt és rengeteg ember. A képek alapján nagyobb strandra számítottam. A parton egymás hegyén-hátán a napernyők és a törölközők, de a vízben volt elég hely, ott nem látszott a rengeteg ember. A víz kellemes és tiszta. A art homokos és forró. Belépőt nem kellett fizetni, a strandhoz tartozó étterem, büfé és strandbolt nem volt drága, 7 euróért ittam egy  kapucsínót meg ettem egy répatortát. A mészkövekkel körbevett öböl nagyon szép volt. Mint Máltán minden kültéri programhoz, a strandoláshoz is ajánlott a fejfedő. Nincs árnyék és a dupla naptejezés ellenére megkapott a nap. 

From the bus stop, you have to walk approx. 12 minutes and you're there. Beautiful blue sea, clear sky and lots of people. Based on the pictures, I expected a bigger beach. On the beach, there were umbrellas and towels on top of each other, but there was enough space in the water, there weren't many people there. The water is pleasant and clean. The art is sandy and hot. There was no entrance fee, the restaurant, buffet and beach shop belonging to the beach were not expensive, I drank a cappuccino and ate a carrot cake for 7 euros. The bay surrounded by limestone was very beautiful. As with all outdoor activities in Malta, headgear is also recommended for going to the beach. There is no shade and despite the double sunscreen, the sun got it.

A hazafelé út borzalmas volt! A buszok kértek és teljesen teli voltak. A légkondi nem bírta a naptól felhevült emberek testét lehűteni, és olyan szűkek és kanyargósak az utcák, hogy csak lépésben lehet haladni a strandról vasárnap este visszaautózók karavánjában. Visszafelé kb. két óráig tartott az út, de túléltem, mert volt üllő helyem. 

The ride home was horrible! The buses were requested and completely full. The air conditioning could not cool the bodies of people heated by the sun, and the streets are so narrow and winding that you can only walk in the caravan of people returning from the beach on Sunday evening. On the way back approx. the trip took two hours, but I survived because I had a seat.

Mikor visszaértem a szállásra, csak pihegtem egy órát a légkondi alatt, de utána felkerekedtem, hogy egyek meg igyak valamit. A neten nem találtam meg, hogy milyen vallási esemény lehetett este Vallettában, de nagy zenekari előadás, tűzijáték és egy szent szobor vállon történő körbe hordozása volt. Ennek kb. kilenckor vége lett és a hömpölygő tömeg eltűnt az utcákról. Csak egy gyors vacsorát terveztem egy gyors sörrel, így egy street-food jellegű helyet választottam, de lassan rájövök, hogy itt a gyors kajára is legalább 20 percet kell várni :-D

When I got back to the accommodation, I just chilled for an hour under the air conditioner, but then I got up to eat and drink something. I couldn't find on the net what kind of religious event there was in Valletta that evening, but there was a big band performance, fireworks and carrying a holy statue around on the shoulders. This approx. at nine o'clock it was over and the surging crowd disappeared from the streets. I only planned a quick dinner with a quick beer, so I chose a street-food type place, but I'm slowly realizing that you have to wait at least 20 minutes for a quick meal here :-D
