BB -Málta: érkezés [Benke Balázs]

Az Erasmus+ programnak köszönhetően egy újabb 2 hetes nyelvi kurzuson vehetek részt (Brighton után 4 évvel), ezúttal Málta fővárosában Vallettában az Easy School of Languages szervezésében.

Bár a kurzusom csak július 17-én hétfőn kezdődik, de a Ryanair járatai szombaton repülnek a szigetre,  úgyhogy volt egy estém és lesz egy teljes napom "akklimatizálódni", mielőtt elkezdődnének az iskolai óráim.

Kezdjük a repülőúttal. Az indulás a magyar valósághoz képest szinte mesébe illő volt. A Ryanair máltai járata 14:20-as indulással volt hirdetve és szinte elképesztő módon, pontosan 14:20-kor el is emelkedett a ferihegyi kifutópályáról😮. Én 29 éve törzsutasa vagyok a MÁV-nak, de egy kezemen meg tudom számolni, hányszor volt ilyen pontos,bármilyen tipusú vonata. Arról nem is beszélve, hogy a 135 perces menetidő helyett kereken 2 óra alatt meg is érkeztünk Máltára.

Megérkezés után, a repülőtér elől az X4-es jelű busszal indultam Vallettába, amely kb 20 perc alatt ért a Triton szökőkút mellett található buszállomásra. Még a repülőtéren vettem 21 euróért egy 7 napos, korlátlan utazásra jogosító buszkártyát. Előzetesen azt olvastam mindenféle blogbejegyzésben és a Facebookon található Máltai Magyarok Közössége csoportban, hogyha utazni szeretnél a szigeten, akkor a busz és ez a kártya a legjobb választás. Szintén tanácsként olvastam, hogy érdemes letölteni mobilra a Tallinja alkalmazást, ami a helyi közlekedési vállalat app-ja és nagyon hasznos. És tényleg..

Innen egy 8-10 perces sétával értem el a szállásomhoz, ami egy nagyon hangulatos és hangzavaros bandukolás volt, lévén átsétáltam az óváros több történelmi helyén és a végén amolyan bazári forgatagos, éttermekkel zsúfolt szűk sétálóutcáján találtam meg a szállásomat....nagy nehezen (kétszer elmentem mellette). Itt jut eszembe, a "Google útvonal" nagyon hasznos ilyenkor, de az "élő kép" funkciója óriási barátod lesz.

A séta közben annyi inger éri az embert,(illatok, hangok, zene, nyelvek sokasága) hogy mire visszaér az esti felfedező barangolásból, már alig várja, hogy elkezdhesse a blogírást és lefeküdhessen. 

Az utcákon az egymás melletti éttermekből teljesen különböző stílusú, élő és gépi zene hangjai mellett elhaladva kétszer is komolyzenei koncertbe csöppentem két gyönyörű épület előtti téren....csak úgy. Az éttermek kínálata híven tükrözi az itt élő helyiek és a turisták sokszinűségét. Van itt indiai konyha, olasz konyha, helyi konyha, streetfood világa, de emellett a gyorséttermek világmárkái is jelen vannak, mint Mc'Donalds, Burger King. Hihetetlen forgatag minden szempontból, igazi multikulti világ.

Kíváncsian várom, hogy milyen lesz az iskola és a kurzusom......ja tényleg... el is látogattam az iskolámhoz, ami a szállásomól mindösszesen 160 méterre található egy pont ilyen szűk utcában, mint ahol délután sétálgattam

Thanks to the Erasmus+ program, I can take part in another 2-week language course (4 years after Brighton), this time in Valletta, the capital of Malta, organized by the Easy School of Languages.

Although my course doesn't start until Monday 17th July, Ryanair flights fly to the island on Saturday, so I've had an evening and a full day to "acclimatise" before my school lessons start.

Let's start with the flight. Compared to the Hungarian reality, the departure was almost like a fairy tale. The Ryanair flight to Malta was advertised as departing at 14:20 and almost amazingly, it took off from the Ferihegy runway at exactly 14:20 😮. I have been a regular passenger of MÁV for 29 years, but I can count on one hand the number of times it has been so punctual, of any type of train. Not to mention that instead of the 135-minute journey time, we arrived in Malta in around 2 hours.

After arrival, I took the X4 bus from the airport to Valletta, which arrived at the bus station next to the Triton fountain in about 20 minutes. I bought a 7-day unlimited travel bus card at the airport for 21 euros. In advance, I read in all kinds of blog posts and in the Maltese Community of Hungarians group on Facebook that if you want to travel around the island, then the bus and this card are the best choice. I also read as advice that you should download the Tallinja app on your mobile, which is the app of the local transport company and is very useful. And really..

From there, I reached my accommodation with an 8-10 minute walk, which was a very atmospheric and noisy gangbusting, since I walked through several historical places of the old town and at the end I found my accommodation on a winding bazaar-like, narrow pedestrian street crowded with restaurants...with great difficulty ( I passed by it twice). This reminds me, the "Google route" is very useful in this case, but the "live image" function will be your great friend.

During the walk, you are exposed to so many stimuli (smells, sounds, music, languages) that by the time you get back from your evening exploring, you can't wait to start blogging and go to bed.

Passing by the sounds of live and machine music of completely different styles from the restaurants next to each other on the streets, I twice dropped into a classical music concert in the square in front of two beautiful buildings...just like that. The range of restaurants faithfully reflects the diversity of the locals and tourists living here. There is Indian cuisine, Italian cuisine, local cuisine, the world of street food, but also world brands of fast food, such as Mc'Donalds and Burger King, are also present. It's an incredible whirlwind from every point of view, a real multicultural world.

I'm curious to see what the school and my course will be like... yes, I actually visited my school, which is only 160 meters from my accommodation in a street as narrow as the one where I was walking in the afternoon
